Gwen Krosnick has been practicing yoga for ten years, and the cello for twenty-five. She is wildly grateful to spend her days as a professional cellist, playing concerts across North America, Europe, and Asia, and teaching at major music conservatories around the U.S. Her yoga practice, from Iyengar to Yin, Vinyasa, and Forrest, has been a loving companion throughout her musical career, which – in addition to its many joys – has intense physical and emotional demands.
Gwen’s yoga practice has provided nourishing balance to her life as a cellist: a place to listen inwardly in days filled with sound, a reminder to stay connected (and soften the shoulders and jaw!) in moments of challenge (whether on the mat or on stage), and a set of tools for self-compassion when she veers into self-criticism and doubt. She aims to illuminate this same self-compassion for her students, and holds space for them with intentional breath, creative sequencing, a light heart, and supportive hands-on assists.
Gwen Krosnick completed her 200-hour certification with Tatyana Souza and Goldie Graham through the New School of Yogic Arts, and her Reiki I certification with Usui Reiki Master Emily Peterson. She bows in deepest gratitude to Tati, Goldie, and Emily, as well as NSYA teachers Laura Ahrens and Andrew Tanner, her beloved Coolidge Corner Yoga teachers and community, and her many musical soul guides. Gwen assists weekly Core Flow classes at CCY for her beloved teacher Rachel Bairstow, with whom she has been lucky to study Forrest Yoga since 2014
